Let’s not be confused here when it comes to the difference between a bridal dress and a wedding gown. The term bridal dress may refer to the same dress the bride will wear, but it is usually in reference to what the bridal party will wear to complement the bride’s ensemble. There are a few tips when it comes to choosing the perfect bridal dress.

It’s often just a matter of taste in the bride’s choosing what will pass as a bridal dress for other members of her entourage. The same tips could apply to that all important mother of the bride dress as well. Surely, you didn’t think dear ole mom could just randomly pick what she wears to her daughter’s wedding.

The first tip is that unless this is an extremely formal, night time wedding the wedding party should not choose black for their bridal dress choices. These dresses should be in tones and hues that mimic the brides color scheme. This should also apply to the color the mother of the bride dress is in.

Other bridal dress wear should also fall in the same category. Examples would be that if the wedding party all has formal, full length bridal dress gowns then the mother of the bride dress should be full length and all in complementary styles and colors.
